Upcoming 'IMAX' movie "Adrenaline Rush" Trailer!

Recommended Posts

Some of you, (or alot) may already know about this, but I just had to post for those that didn't and because it looks pretty cool.
Someone is releasing an IMAX sized 'movie' called "Adrenaline Rush" (formerly known as "Courage"), that will supposedly premier in Toronto in Sept. of this year. The movie is about risk taking but it primarily focuses on skydiving and base jumping for illustration. It even includes a scene where they test out Leonardo Da Vinci's parachute design according to his exact specifications and materials. (spoiler: it works great!! (apple.com shows it working in a short clip (search for "Courage") amazing considering da vinci designed it 500 years ago. of course other designs of his including a bridge have been built and worked great too. awesome.)
Anyhow, here are some links to the trailer and some basic info:

Adrian and his staff are real nice folks. Anything you can do to help get the word out would be nice. One of the staff stayed with me when they were filming and I was supprised as some of the stuff they did. They are the kind that makes this sport great!!!!!!!

Has anybody seen this yet?? I'm curious about the Da Vinci jump. I know he's wearing a modern rig as well which if things went wrong I'm sure he could cut away and deploy, but I'm wondering what the decent rate on it was. I read an article on the jump, and it said the balloon took him to 10000 ft. and he had a 5 min. parachute decent, so I guess he didn't land it, just wondering if it was possible or not.

I must have missed this thread last year. Thanks for bumping it up.
No, I haven't seen it, but now that I have seen the trailer (and saved it), I MUST SEE IT!

And to add, it's listed for 2 USA theatres. Myrtle Beach (I can't make that one) and St. Paul, MN (Now that one I can drive to!)

Actually, a few of us just saw this movie on Sunday in Orlando at the Science Center. They are having trial runs and are asking for surveys to be filled out to help them decide if this movie should be a "regular"...I guess like the cave movie, dolphins, and stuff.

FWIW, this movie is fucking outstanding!!!! The BASE footage from Norway is absolutely phenomenal and the freeflying rocks! I don't believe Adrian Nicholas (who basically stars in the movie) nor the guys from Freefly Training Center (Swanson, Dave, etc...who are also in the movie) have seen it. There is some absolutely BAD ASS stuff in this movie!!!!! Just watching skydiving at the IMAX theatre was awesome in itself, but watching this stuff was amazing. I can't say enough good things about this movie.
It leads to Adrian Nicholas's attempt to fly the canopy that da Vinci designed 400+ years ago (the one shaped like a pyramid).

We found out it was playing a day and a half before the last show...it was only here last friday, saturday, and sunday.

I think this was in a thread a while back, or maybe on /. Very neat stuff. I wish that film was coming anywhere near me.

He cut away at 2K, but they say the landing of the chute was very gentle, he probably could have ridden it in.

Hey y'all... does anyone remember about 5-6 years ago, there was another IMAX skydiving movie being made? There was an article in Parachutist, had pics of BJ Worth w/ this huge belly mounted IMAX camera rig on. Whatever happened to that one?

That looks like such a sweet film. I am going to Quebec City in July and will get to see it then. I can't wait! :)

Hi Tee
You'll actually have the possibility to meet the base jumpers of the Norway cliff jumps part of the movie, as they run a DZ in Quebec City (www.atmosphair.com)

The movie itself is good, as the comments reflect reality except for a bit of exageration - well, it's made for wuffos. However, the freefly shoots, the wingsuit jumps over the Florida keys and the cliff jumping shots are piece of art; you'll feel it as you were in! Awesome!!!

Won't say much: enjoy it ! ;)
